Gift cards

Gift cards, without a separate system.

Sell a gift card at the till or send one by email, take it as payment like any other, and see exactly what's outstanding. Selling one isn't revenue, spending one is, and the books agree.

Selling

On the counter and in their inbox.

Sell gift cards like any other product, printed or digital.

  • Sold at the till

Sell and load a card in the same sale. It isn't counted as takings or charged VAT when it's sold.

  • Your own printed cards

Load your card stock from a spreadsheet, and activate each card as it's sold, typed or scanned.

  • Emailed gift cards

Send a gift card by email with a code and a QR, ready to spend.

  • Top up any time

Add to a card's balance from the back office.

Spending

Spent like money, a bit at a time.

Take a gift card on its own or with cash or card for the rest, and the remaining balance stays on the card.

  • Part-payments

Spend some, keep the rest. An empty or inactive card is refused before it's used.

  • Balance, any time

Check a balance at the till, or let the customer check it themselves online.

  • Put back on a refund

Void or refund a sale paid by gift card and the value goes back on the card.

The books

Every penny accounted for.

Gift cards are money you owe until they're spent. Tenvelo keeps that straight for you and your accountant.

  • What's outstanding

Issued, redeemed and outstanding for any period and site, with a spreadsheet to download.

  • Across a franchise

Cards that work at every site in a brand, with a report of what's owed between sites.

Questions

Questions people ask.

Can I sell gift vouchers online or by email?
Yes. Send a gift card by email with a code and a QR, and it's spent at the till like any other.
Can customers spend part of a gift card?
Yes. Spend some and the remaining balance stays on the card for next time.
Is VAT charged when I sell a gift voucher?
Selling a gift card isn't counted as takings or charged VAT. It's counted when it's spent, and a report shows what's still outstanding.
Can I use my own printed gift cards?
Yes. Load your card numbers from a spreadsheet and activate each one when it's sold.
