Tabs and tables

Tabs and tables, without the paper pad.

Open a tab for “Sarah” or table 4, keep adding rounds from any till in the building, and settle up wherever the customer is standing.

Tabs

Start a tab at the bar. Pay it at the door.

A tab belongs to the whole site, not to one till, so staff can add to it and settle it from wherever they happen to be.

  • Tabs by name

Open a tab for a person or a table, and keep adding rounds for as long as the night goes on.

  • Any till, same tab

Every till at the site sees the same open tabs, rounds added offline included, so whoever's nearest can take the next round or the payment.

  • Whose tab it is

Every tab shows who's looking after it, and can be handed to someone else when a shift changes.

  • No lost rounds

If two tills change the same tab at once, Tenvelo shows staff both, keeps the added rounds and asks about anything taken off.

Tables

See the room at a glance.

The table plan shows which tables are free and which are busy, grouped into areas like the terrace and upstairs, so a new starter can find table 12's order on their first shift. Tap a table to start its order, or pick up the one that's running.

  • Busy, for how long, and how much

Every busy table shows how long they've been sat and what the bill has come to, without anyone walking the floor.

  • Who's serving

Each table shows who's serving it, and servers can filter the plan down to just their own tables.

  • Parties move, and so do bills

Move a bill to another table in a couple of taps, and keep separate bills on one table when a group pays apart.

  • Seat numbers

Put a seat on each dish, so the kitchen knows whose plate is whose and the bill can be split by seat.

Bookings

The booking is the tab.

Bookings sit on the same tables as the till. When a booked party arrives, seat them and their tab opens on the table with their name already on it.

  • Held tables on the plan

The host sees today's bookings beside the table plan, with late arrivals flagged.

  • Walk-ins too

Keep a waitlist and seat the next party straight onto a free table.

Questions

Questions people ask.

Can two tills share the same tab?
Yes. Tabs belong to the site, so any till there can add to one or take payment for it.
Can I hold a card behind the bar?
Card tabs held behind the bar are coming with Tenvelo Payments. Today, open the tab by name and settle it on your own card machine at the end of the night.
Does a tab keep working if the wifi drops?
Yes. You can keep adding to it on the till you're using, and the other tills get every round once the connection is back.
Can the table plan show who's serving?
Yes. Each table shows who's serving it, and a server can switch to just their own tables.
